Most foundation problems start with water. When water saturates the soil around your foundation and has nowhere to go, it creates lateral pressure against your walls. Over time, that pressure wins.

Wall Stabilization
When the Wall Starts to Move, Act Quickly!
A bowing or buckling basement wall is one of the most serious problems a homeowner can face. It means the soil pressure outside your foundation has exceeded what the wall can resist, and the situation gets worse the longer it goes untreated.
We stabilize bowing walls using carbon fiber straps or wall anchors, depending on how far the wall has moved and what type of foundation you have. Both methods stop the inward movement and restore the wall's structural integrity without major excavation.
- Carbon fiber straps: Bonded vertically to the wall surface to prevent further movement. Low profile, no disruption to the yard.
- Wall anchors: Steel plates installed in the soil beyond the pressure zone, connected to the wall by a steel rod. Can be gradually tightened over time to work the wall back toward its original position.
- Horizontal cracks: Almost always a sign of lateral soil pressure and a warning that should not be ignored.
- Stair-step cracks: Common in block foundations, typically a sign of differential settlement or water getting in at the mortar joints.

Foundation settlement happens when the soil beneath your home can no longer support the weight of the structure. Poor compaction during original construction, erosion, and soil that has dried and shrunk over time are the most common causes.
Signs include uneven floors, doors and windows that stick or won't close properly, diagonal cracks at the corners of windows and doors, and visible gaps between walls and ceilings.
Morgan assesses settlement issues on a case-by-case basis. Depending on how much movement has occurred and what the soil conditions are, solutions may include underpinning, piering, or drainage work to address the water that's eroding the supporting soil.
Egress Windows
Light, Code Compliant, and a Safe Exit
An egress window serves two purposes. It brings natural light and ventilation into your basement, and it provides a code-compliant emergency exit. If you're finishing your basement or converting a space to living use, an egress window is typically required by building code.
Morgan handles the full installation. We cut the foundation wall opening, install the window unit, form the window well, and add a well cover. We pull the necessary permits and handle everything from start to finish.
Egress windows are most commonly added as part of a waterproofing or finishing project, when the work is already underway and the disruption is minimal.

Bilco Doors
Proper Access to Your Basement from the Outside
A Bilco-style basement door gives you direct exterior access to your basement. That's useful for moving large items in and out, providing a secondary entry point, or improving ventilation. It's also a practical upgrade when waterproofing or drainage work has already exposed the exterior foundation.
Morgan installs complete exterior basement door systems, including the concrete stairwell, masonry work, and the door unit itself. Like egress windows, Bilco doors are typically added as part of a broader project rather than as a standalone job.

What causes foundation problems?

What is foundation piering and when is it needed?
Piering, also called underpinning, is used when the foundation itself has settled or shifted because the soil beneath it can no longer support the structure's weight. Steel piers are driven through the unstable soil to bedrock or load-bearing strata and used to stabilize and sometimes lift the foundation. It's a significant repair, and not every settlement situation requires it. We'll tell you what your foundation actually needs.
Do you handle permits for foundation repair work?
Yes. Any required permits are handled through Morgan's contractor license. We take care of the paperwork
What are egress windows and do I need one?
An egress window is a window large enough to serve as an emergency exit from the basement. Building code requires them in any basement room used as a bedroom or living space. If you're finishing your basement, you'll almost certainly need one. Morgan handles the full installation including cutting the foundation wall, the window unit, window well, and cover.
What is a Bilco door?
A Bilco door is an exterior basement access door, typically steel, set into a concrete stairwell at ground level. It gives you direct outside access to the basement without going through the house. Morgan installs complete systems including the stairwell, masonry work, and door unit.
How much does foundation repair cost?
